Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister: We attach great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan

We attach great importance to developing relations with Azerbaijan, said Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister and Defense Minister Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah as he met Azerbaijan's ambassador to the country Elkhan Gahraman.

The minister's discussions with the diplomat included current regional and world events.

The Kuwait's First Deputy Prime Minister said they are ready to support development of bilateral relationship, stressing the importance of reciprocal visits in strengthening bonds. The first Deputy Prime Minister also said they are interested in developing bilateral bonds with Azerbaijan.

Elkhan Gahraman, in turn, said cultural, historical and religious ties between the two countries created a favorable environment for further deepening bonds. On relations between Azerbaijan and Kuwait, the diplomat emphasized the significance of boosting bilateral ties in the fields of trade, economy, culture, tourism. The Ambassador expressed assurance that cooperation will expand and trade tournament will increase over the future.

Mr. Gahraman also briefed the First Deputy Prime Minister about the cause and consequences of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. He also touched upon developing processes, socio-economic reforms carried out in Azerbaijan.

The ambassador said following direct air route opening between the two countries, around 17 thousand Kuwaiti tourists visited Azerbaijan.

Mr. Gahraman spoke of fruitful cooperation between the two countries within the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and other international organizations, and thanked the Kuwaiti side for support of Azerbaijan in settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan, Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
